LETSSEL SAINT ANTONIN
LETSSEL stands for Local Exchange Trading System (or Scheme) and SYSTEME d’ECHANGELOCAL. It is a scheme for bartering skills and goods between members using a local currency;
in this group, the currency is called a 'Sou'.
Unlike a one-to-one system, you can earn Sous from one member
and spend them with any other.
LETS and SEL schemes are non-profitmaking groups run for the members by the members.
The system is managed by a 'Core Group' who produces a directory of goods and services
available through the scheme, and maintains the accounts.
They also help organise occasional social/ trading events.
All members have the same rights and duties. [See Regulations]
They delegate the daily organisation via the General Meeting to the
Core Group.
The members give their opinion about the daily routine at the General Meeting (once a year).
The Core Group prepares the meeting and takes care of the decisions taken.
Every member can hand in proposals, in writing, up till three weeks before the G.M.
LETS and SEL schemes offer an opportunity for people to exchange skills and goods
without using money,
and to meet socially.
This helps members prosper - and you can use the cash saved for other things!
Means of communication for the ‘’LETSSEL’’ members are:
a. the mailing list, on which they can circulate instantly their Supply and Demand amongst the other members.
b. the monthly journal, Le SOUFFLEUR, in which they can find among other things,
a membership list
with telephone numbers and the balance in Sous per member.
c. the monthly Café meeting for the LETSSEL members, where they can meet the other members and
barter at the same time.
a) Members trade either in Sous only or a mix of Sous and cash. Cash-only trade cannot be part of LETSSEL accounting.
b) Members agree terms, prices and conditions between themselves.
c) The Core Group is not responsible for the quality of goods and services listed in the Directory or traded.
d) The Core Group may refuse to accept for Directory entry goods or services considered inappropriate.
e) The Core Group Accountant maintains the Sou accounts.
f) Sous can only be transferred from one account to another by the Core Group's Accountant.
g) The Core Group reserves the right to alter EURO and SOUS charges.
h) Any member may know the balance and turnover of any other member.
i) Members are responsible for their own liabilities and/or benefits position.
j) Members agree to the holding on computer of any information they supply.
